November 2010
What an adventurous, difficult, yet exciting month for our family. Many of you were able to see Jody while she was in the States. She left on a medical emergency, after being told by a Romanian doctor that she was 98% sure Jody had breast cancer. As most of you already know, another doctor also found the suspected lump. A second opinion was sought, and a biospy was scheduled. After searching for over an hour, during the biopsy appointment, the doctor announced that the suspected lump had disappeared. We praise the Lord for the lessons that He has taught us all during this time, and especially for being with us all every step of the way. Robert and Randy continued working on the Christmas program for Ghijasa de Jos while Jody was in the States. God overcame the initial opposition through your faithful prayers. Jody returned to Romania on November 23, now 3 weeks ago. We know that God had a purpose in Jody's trip back to America. Besides our family being a big encouragement to her, so were all of you. Thank you all for your prayers, encouragement, emails, kind words, and financial gifts. We are very happy to be back together serving the Lord together once again.
December 1-15, 2010
We just finished the Christmas program in Ghijasa de Jos, Sunday. We wanted to make sure and get it out on the blog as soon as possible. Praise the Lord that in spite of snowing everyday for the past several days, and even more on Sunday, we still had over 100 in audience at the local Ghijasa de Jos culture center. That is not bad in a village with the population of only 138! We were so encouraged to have over 35 fellow brothers and sisters in Christ joining us in our efforts from our Romanian home church, Stanca in Cisnadie, over an hour away. They also sang Christmas carols, and read poems to enhance the program. The 3 act play, "No Room in the Inn", had a cast of 28 kids from the village, ranging in ages from 4 years old to 18, also a live lamb, and a live chicken! The councilman from the village opened the progrm with a welcome. Jody then thanked everyone for coming, explained the program, and thanked the parents for allowing us to work with their children. The play was based on Luke 2. Robert was in charge of the set, lights and sound equipment. Some of the older boys in the village assisted with the sets and opening and closing the curtains. Jody, and our Romanian assistants, Nelu and Teodora, directed the children during the play. Praise the Lord that the Gospel message was heard loud and clear, through the play, through the songs, poems, and devotions. What an amazing and wonderful opportunity to be a part of the Word going out in this reomote village, where no evangelical church exists. Through your giving, we were able to provide refreshments for everyone after the program, new shoes for all the cast members and goody bags for all the children in attendance.
The snow continued even throughout the program, and 4 of the 6 vehicles that traveled from Cisnadie, as well as, our two vehicles had problems trying to get up the hill to get home. With the help of friends and neighbors from the neighboring village who came to push, and after several attempts, eventually, everyone was able to get home.
Please continue to pray that the seeds that have been spread out will now be watered and will fall on the tender soil of hearts ready and willing to become disciples of Jesus Christ. We will continue to meet with the children weekly. We plan on continuing after the first of the year with English classes. We were told that we must submit a cirriculum for approval by the superintendent of education for the State. Please pray that our cirriculum will be approved so that we can continue to use the school building during the winter.
Our prayers continue for you all. Thank you all for your prayers. God is answering them and keeping the victory of even our unseen battles on our side!
We wish you all a very blessed Christmas season with the warmth of knowing Christ as your personal Savior, and may He be in the midst of all your Christmas and New Year celebrations. With Love,
Robert, Jody and Randy Frye
Pictures and videos are on the way. Thanks for your patience!
