In May, we had 2 of the kindgom builders group join us to help with construction projects here at Windsor's Fair Haven Camp. Will LaRose and Joseph Long were a big encouragement to us and worked hard the 10 days that they were here. Just to mention a few things that they did; they laid two block retaining walls, landscaping work with a pond, including pouring and finishing cement, balcony and roofing work, and made a new entrance into the kitchen addition. Will preached at the Nocrich church and they were both guests of honor at our spring English program in Ghijasa de Jos.
Speaking of Ghijasa de Jos, the kids did a great job with Bible verses, songs and skits for the spring program. All the parents were invited to come and hear the children explain the parables of Jesus and Jesus' teachings that they learned. Some of the parables that they learned were the Sower and the Seed, the Good Samaritain, the Lost Sheep, The Hidden Treasure and the Wise and Foolish Builders. They had fun coming up with skits together and we even videotaped one of The Hidden Treasure to show the parents during the program.
Thank you for your continued prayers for Crina (one of our Nocrich youth that has been helping in Ghijasa de Jos) as she has developed a close relationship with Dia, one of the girl's that has made a decision for Christ. Crina has opened her home once a month during the summer, for Dia to stay with her and has made it possible for her to come to church during that time. This is a wonderful blessing and an answer to prayer for us. Please continue to pray for Anna also, another one of the girls in Ghijasa that has professed Christ, that the Lord would provide opportunities for her. We will be having camps with the kids from Ghijasa during June and July.
We celebrated Easter in May at our Nocrich church. Here in Romania they actually have 3 days of Easter, beginning on Easter Sunday. The second day of Easter, Monday, the church had a picnic as is the custom every year. Last year, we couldn't get any of the youth to attend. So this year, we decided to have the youth host a game day for the adults complete with prizes for the winners. Some of the games included a balloon/dart toss, ping pong ball throw, ring the pop bottle, carpet ball, and shooting the nerf basketball. Before the adults could play any of the games, they had to share a verse, a song, or a poem with the youth in charge of the game.
It was a wonderful day and everyone had fun, but even more importantly, it seemed to help in bridging the gap that seems to be growing between the youth and the adults in the church. Bringing the awareness to both sides during this day, has brought the church closer together. It is our desire that our youth realize that they need to learn from those that have taken the path before them, (I Peter 5, and Titus 2) and that the adults will continue to reach out to the youth as they are our future. Some of the other activies of our youth in March and April are explained below with pictures. We continued to teach the picture of Christ through the Old Testament history until the last week of May, and in June will begin a general overview of the New Testament.
As far as other completed camp construction projects, the well is finished, the dining hall is completed with floor covering, and the addition to the kitchen is most recently finished this week. After building the dining hall area, a small room was then available to connect to the existing camp kitchen, that would be specifically for washing dishes and clean up. Thank you for your prayers concerning safety and energy to get these things accomplished.
Other answers to prayer include: new internet service complete with a telephone for the camp, transportation has been provided for our furlough through Jody's parents, the youth continuing to come and be involved in the youth group, the continued interest from the children of Ghijasa de Jos.
New prayer requests include: camps in June, July and August, especially for necessary and committed leaders; our youth in Nocrich and the children of Ghiajsa de Jos; continued energy and safety in completing the 6 guest rooms above the dining hall, the Nocrich church, the Stanca church and their youth, and necessary arrangements for our upcoming furlough in September.
Thank you all for your continued prayers and may the Lord bless you and keep you close to Him as we serve our Father together.
