Boys camp

Jerimiah 9:23-24 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

This year's boys' camp was a great time of learning and fellowship. We had some outstanding leaders who were 100% behind the concepts we were teaching through the week.
These are the Spartans.
These are the Titans.

Our theme was The Warrior for Christ; what a warrior was in Bible times, and what a warrior is today. We had two teams who showed honor and respect for each other as we worked, played, ate and studied together. The week was filled with all kinds of challenges to build unity in the team. Literally, they built together. Here are some pictures to show just how they did that.

Bringing in the blocks.
Clearing the way.

Laying the foundation.
Cutting the wood for.......
Planning.

Measuring

Engineering

This was just one of the ways we taught the boys how to work together, show respect for each others abilities, and unite as a team.

Yes, that is correct it is an outhouse!
It was a great experience for the leaders to work with their respective teams.

As we taught throughout the week we used songs, Bible verses, and lessons to bring to light the wonderful truths in God's Word about being "A Warrior for Christ". We used hands-on practical lessons to help the boys understand God's delight in a warrior:  how to avoid temptation, how to say no, and how we must give our will over to the Father. We then showed them the Way to the Father as the boys memorized Bible verses such as John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by Me.

Sometimes the Bible lessons were practical.
Lesson time was also an opportunity to sing together.

At the end of one of our lessons, the Windsor's Fair Haven health inspector came and talked with the boys about their upkeep of the cabins, dining hall, and the bathroom. The boys kept saying it was Jody, but really, I don't see any resemblence. All I can say is the inspector was not very happy :(
After her visit things began to look better around the camp.

The camp memory verse store was in full swing
The boys did a great job memorizing verses. I didn't think they would, but the leaders worked with them and everyday at least one verse was said by each boy.

We consider this week a great sucess. God's Word went out. It went out through verses, lessons, games, skits, discussions and actions of our leaders.

We also had some fun with skits.

On Friday, we had a day of competitions for the boys. We had 25 guests come and encourage the boys. It was nice to have friends and neighbors to come see the boys compete.

Jody was our cook for the week and she did an outstanding job. One of our girls from our youth group, Alexandra, helped alot with the cleanup. The preasure to feed 41 people on Friday she did without any problems.

Saturday was the final day with presentations for the awards for the winners of each competition. Jody and I take this award thing very seriously.

Maybe the shorts along with the suitcoat and tie wasn't too serious, but it was still very serious:)

We set into motion a atmosphere of this place of safety, security, love, patience, giving, and sharing: a place where no one has to be afraid of anyone; a place where we see the Light and Love of the Father in everything that is said and done. We have a hope that all those involved in the camps this year take a part of this Light home with them and let it shine.
