Thank you so much for your continued prayers for us all. We are still on this rollercoaster of health issues as Randy continues to heal. We praise the Lord for the good moments and the difficult ones that make us continue to rely on our Father.
Please continue to pray as this week the fluid on Randy's heart and lungs has started to return and his blood tests showed increasingly high inflammation. Please pray for wisdom, clarity, and understanding for us and the doctors. With new doctors it is difficult to explain Randy's unique high tolerance and low exhibition of pain. Some doctors dismiss the issue simply based on his presentation regardless of the medical tests.
We covet your prayers as we seek the Lord's will in the future decisions regarding Randy's health and our hopeful trip to Romania this year.

As we continually place Randy on the Lord's altar, sacrificing our desires and surrendering our will, God remains faithful and in His timing brightens the dark path showing His love to us with glimpses of glory that give us more hope and shine light on the path making things brighter.
Things are not easy right now. Despite the inaccurate report last Saturday from the emergency room doctor that all tests were ok, the abnormal EKG was overlooked by several doctors.
Randy has not been doing well. through a series of difficulties this week- ER visits, multiple doctor visits, and extensive testing- we have an explanation of why. Due to undisclosed complications during the chest wall reconstruction surgery in December, Randy is recuperating from a collapsed lung , has an infection in the lining of his heart and fluid on his heart. This is an extremely painful, life-threatening condition that requires constant monitoring. They are waiting to see if treatment will improve so that hospitalization will not be necessary, but it is touch and go. Since Randy doesn't express or exhibit pain like most, it is challenging to assess him.
We appreciate your prayers now more than you can imagine.
God's faithfulness continues to carry us through as our hearts and minds are still heavily burdened with Randy's health and our call to Romania.

Praise the Lord for the surgery. Knowing if it was successful will take time. The 7 1/2 hours were grueling. We are so thankful Mom came to sit with us and God sent us a new friend from a church we visited before the surgery. Randy had some post operative issues, and Christmas Day was the most difficult physically for him. On the most part the nurses and doctors were very accommodating. We don't understand why he isn't eating much and remains on overnight oxygen at home, but the surgery was huge. It was the first time it had ever been performed in this state, and only 3 other times in history that they know of. It was a total chest wall reconstruction, splitting the sternam and propping it open with titanum plates and rib grafts. We have hope and the Lord has given us strength to endure. Thank you all for your prayers as we hope for a road to recovery.Through this all we are keeping connections with our fellow Brothers and Sisters in Christ and students in Romania as they rejoice at Christmas.
How wonderful of them to share their fellowship with us through video and pictures. Staying in the hospital over Christmas gave us a new understanding for those that suffer during the holidays.

Praise the Lord Randy's much needed surgery is on the schedule and approved by insurance. In order for Randy's surgery to be approved financially, it is required for us to move to North Carolina. Randy will be having his pre op testing and then surgery scheduled for Dec. 19. The Lord has blessed by allowing Jody to find a mission house for them to stay in for the next year during Randy's surgery and recovery. They will only be required to pay for utilities. This is extremely helpful, since they are still supporting Dia and Cristina through high school, the camp, vehicles, taxes, and the house in Crawfordsville, as well.
